CLAUDETTE M FD Purple
. This is a wonderful plant for both border plantings and for use in a container. A mass of blooms of a nice deep purple with dark green foliage. The plant grows about 20-24". Removing the side buds enhances the many blooms and lets them raise above the foliage. Good garden practices will give you lots of blooms from mid July to frost. No special cultural practices needed. In a border it stands out when combined with small orange zinnias. Use this beauty in a large container with Angelonia Angle mist plum and Strobilanthes for height structure. Verbena lani purple eye as a trailing plant works well also include the beautiful Helichrysum Limelight to set the whole array off.

All of the above do well in bright or filtered sun.
CLAUDETTE is readily available from several large commercial houses

TOUT A TOI Min. Waterlily Bronze with hints of golden yellow. Truly a joy in the garden. Very prolific, growing about 20" high. No support needed and it just blooms and blooms again from mid July to frost. Note with a greenhouse tubers can be started early and you can have blooms in late June. In my border I combine Tout a Toi with purple salvia for a dramatic effect that lasts and lasts. As a waterlily type it will close partly in the late evening but come daylight it's fully open again. A general purpose liquid fertilizer application in late June helps. I didn't even disbud mine and they were fine. This beauty is about as close to a no work dahlia that you can get.

In a 20" container I use Phygelius Salmon Leap and Bronze Fennel for height and structure calibrachoa million bells yellow used as a trailing plant sets off the great foliage of the dahlia.
Again readily available from major garden houses.
